Goodreads Choice Awards 2024: What I Predicted, Loved, and Skipped

I predicted this, and let me tell you, it wasn’t for nothing! I could feel this one was going to win. Weddings, relationships, and humor? It had the perfect formula. I haven’t read it yet, but it’s clearly a book everyone is talking about.

Another accurate prediction! Kristin Hannah is a guaranteed winner in historical fiction, but honestly, I haven’t picked this one up yet. Will I? Maybe someday, but for now, it’s not jumping to the top of my TBR.

Okay, let’s be honest here—coincidence or not, it’s already being adapted into a movie (check the details here). While I might watch the movie, I’m not 100% convinced to read the book. Sometimes the adaptation can be better!

Sorry, Sarah J. Maas fans, but this one’s not for me. Instead of another book, I wish she’d just find a mate for Azriel already. Priorities, Sarah, please!

This reminds me too much of Divine Rivals, which I absolutely hated. People loved it, but I couldn’t get past the rushed plot and flat enemies-to-lovers dynamic. No second chances here, sorry not sorry.

I loved the first two volumes and the Netflix series (if you haven’t watched Season 1, go now—I beg you). But by Volume 5, I just feel like screaming at the characters to “get it together!” Important topics like anorexia are great to see addressed, but this one just isn’t for me.

Finally, something I’m adding to my TBR! Kelly Bishop’s memoir is on my “to-buy” list for next week. I can’t wait to dive into her story—this one feels like a must-read for me.
